Timothy Powers

Timothy Powers, a Bush Pioneer in 2004, was deputy director of the Republican National Committee's (RNC) congressional affairs and strategic planning operation before leaving to open the Artemis Strategies lobbying firm.[1] A veteran political operative, he also worked as an advisor on the George H.W. Bush and Sen. Bob Dole (R-KS) presidential campaigns.

According to his corporate biography, he "founded the K Street Crowd, an informal network of Republican government affairs professionals that provides a critical link between the GOP leadership, party committees and the downtown community."[2] To that end, his recent clients have included GE Mortgage, eBay, Heinz and the government of Pakistan, but he has also spent considerable time lobbying on behalf of municipal interests.[3] For his work on behalf of Erie County, Pennsylvania, Powers estimated that he brought in $5 in federal funding for every dollar spent on his fees.[4] In another case, he succeeded in convincing lawmakers to insert a $60,000 earmark for security cameras and street lighting on behalf of Reading, Pennsylvania, but the earmarks were canceled when Congress switched to Democratic control in 2007.[5]
